It sounds like you've gone wrong somewhere along the installation process, look around the net for tutorials their everywhere, and install it manually that way you would have a better understanding of whats going wrong. Another way around it would be to just run a portable web server with php and mysql already installed. http://www.pendriveapps.com/xampp-portable-web-server/
